Edo State PDP today released a statement blasting the Edo State Government claiming, amongst other accusations, that ‘governor has since abandoned governance…’The statement titled ‘Ruckus in the Assembly!’ and signed by the opposition party stalwart Mr Chris Nehikhare went on to touch on other issues such as the crisis in the Edo State House of Assembly as well as the recent disbandment of EDSTMA.Below is the full text of the statement:
‘We are aware of the brewing crisis in the EDHA due to the sudden realization by the members of the imminent failure of the policies of Adams Oshiomholes led government.
Edo PDP have consistently maintained that the governor has since abandoned governance and taken to wasteful and unproductive ventures. Curiously, as we move towards the tail end of his uneventful administration, all state resources are now diverted to scandalous projects in Iyamho . This is coming at a time pensioners are dying daily as a result of government insistence on physical appearance for verification of their claims knowing fully well that the beneficiaries are frail and weak from months of non payment of their entitlement. This insensitive government has also made life hard for judicial workers who have been denied their entitlement and outstanding salaries as well as local government workers still owed months of unpaid salaries and subjected to untold hardship. It is now obvious that the governor has failed to come to terms with the hash realities of the moment.
We commend the leadership and members of the EDHA for speaking out now on this burning issues. Just like Edo PDP has always advocated , We urge EDHA in the interest of edo people to take a step further to call on the governor to account for his gross mismanagement and misappropriation of 1.4trn Naira the state has received since he was sworn in as governor of Edo State.
We believe it’s also appropriate for the House to demand answers to the issue of EDSTMA, as it was embarrassing to hear the governor deny the existence of the body, only to a few days later announce the sack of Mr. Austine Evbakhavbokun, Commissioner of police retired as the chief executive of EDSTMA. This is key as Edo people need to know who controlled the account which the fines and levies imposed on the hapless Edo motorists were paid.
We call on the leadership of the House to comply with the appeal court judgement that pronounced Hon. Gallant Commander Sylvanus Eruaga as the duly elected member representing ESTAKO West constituency 2.
Once again, we commend Edo state house of Assembly on their new patriotism and courage to assert their Independence.
Just like Edo PDP, we hope you are listening to the cries of Edo people!’
