We need peace, Order and Unity!
By Comrade Godwin Erhahon
The strength of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Edo State Chapter after the forthcoming governorship primaries is seriously threatened by the bad manners of some serving Commissioners who have gone riot in their desperation towards assuming relevance in the polity.
A situation where a Commissioner abuses party leaders and assumes the role of a spokesman for a cabal in the Party is fast sinking the image of our popular government in the mud. It is most disturbing that those who ought to administer the law have become lawless and nobody seems ready to chain the mad dog.
For the avoidance of doubt, APC appreciates the contributions of all the governorship aspirants to the growth of the party so far.
Those who defected to the APC at a time that many were leaving the party are as dear to us as our foundation leaders; they are dearer than those whose divided loyalty led to our defeat in their constituencies in the recent elections.
We appeal to all aspirants to control their supporters, both genuine and otherwise.
Those whose supporters beat war drums and fan the embers of discord in our intra-party contest endanger their chance of winning the primaries.
The leadership of APC is committed to ensuring that the party remains united and formidable after the primaries. Therefore no aspirant should attempt to crush his opponent as the support of all will be needed towards winning the actual election.
Besides, every wise aspirant should appreciate the fact that he will jeopardize his chances if, in the build up to the primary, he portrays himself as someone who will not tolerate opposition should he become governor.
Comrade Governor Adams Oshiomhole has shown good example on how to be tolerant of dissenting voices even in the most trying moments. Let whoever aspires to succeed him emulate him.
Give no cause for the people to be scared of you.
